The Downtown Athletic Club instructors are certified, dedicated fitness professionals who utilize their personal style based on education, movement, sport and life experience. We strive in each class to teach the group while focusing on the needs of the individual.
Cardio & Strength

AB LAB

Join us in the fitness area on the second floor every day for fifteen minutes of concentrated abdominal and lower back work. It’s a perfect way to begin or end your workout. Check our schedule for daily class listings.

DAC FIT

This fast paced, calorie burning functional training class delivers a full body, heart pumping, interval workout using a combination of cardio and strength training. The variety of exercises build strength, tone muscles and improve athletic stamina. DAC FIT Light is a 30 minute, moderately paced circuit class fusing high repetition strength training with cardio intervals.

FIT BARRE

Come experience this exciting fitness craze that is grueling and powerful with a bit of grace. Barre draws on ideas from ballet, pilates and yoga, and creates a muscular endurance class for all people. Thus, no dance experience is required. This class is a great workout combining standing exercises, core work and light weights. Be prepared to sculpt, define and burn into a new you.

GROUP POWER

This barbell program strengthens all major muscles in a motivating group environment with fantastic music and instructors. With simple movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls, Group Power is for all fitness levels.

INSANITY

This is max interval training that keeps your body working at maximum capacity through your entire workout. Workout in 3 to 5-minute blocks, and take breaks only long enough to gulp some air and get right back to work.

INSANITY/LIFT

This class combines 30 minutes of the Insanity program with 30 minutes of weight lifting.

P90X®

This trademarked workout is a combination of exercise techniques including strength training, cardio, yoga, plyometrics, and stretching. It’s designed to make you sweat and continue burning calories long after your workout is done.

PIYO

This is a high-intensity, low-impact workout for a new kind of strong. PiYo is a blend of pilates and yoga-inspired moves cranked up to the speed that gives you full throttle cardio, strength, and flexibility training — all at once.

SPORTS AEROBICS

Sports aerobics is a high intensity, aerobic interval class that is designed to train your body to have the speed, agility, and power of an athlete. With tracks such as aerobic, strength, and speed, Sports Aerobics combines an 80’s aerobics cardio class with the speed and endurance of an athlete.

Cycle

CYCLE

Cycle is a one hour high energy stationary bike workout enhances cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. Participants select personal intensity levels during the workout through body position and bike tension.

CYCLE CIRCUIT

Cycle Circuit includes a 30 minute Cycle class followed by a 30 minutes of circuit training. During the circuit segment, you can expect a medium intensity full body workout with light weights and body resistance.

CYCLE EXPRESS

Cycle Express is a 30 minute version of the Cycle class.

CYCLE 45

Cycle 45 is a 45 minute version of the Cycle class.

Dance

DANCE FIT

Burn up the dance floor with a new, choreographed dance every three weeks. Dances blend your favorite styles including hiphop, modern, and lyrical. Instructor Dana Cook breaks down the moves so they are simple and easy to follow.

FIT BARRE

MOVE, SHAKE, DANCE

This is a fun, high-intensity, cardiovascular workout with a fusion of plyometrics and dance.

WORLD DANCE

This dance-based class utilizes exceptional music and movement to create dances to each song. A great workout with lots of heart and freedom of expression.

ZUMBA

This class features exotic rhythms like salsa, merengue, cumbia and samba set to Latin and International beats. Before you know it you will see that your abs, arms and thighs are toned and your energy level is soaring. Zumba is easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating!

Low Impact

AQUA THEREX

This low impact, total body conditioning program targets beginners and those desiring arthritic therapy or a gentle place to start post physical therapy. The class utilizes specially designed buoyancy and resistance equipment to provide a combination of aerobic, strengthening and stretching exercises

CORE/BALANCE

Promote the mind-body connection and improve cognitive function with workouts that integrate coordination, rhythm and strategy. Strengthen bones and muscles, improve balance and posture using hand weights, resistance bands and your own body weight. Engage and strengthen your core to reduce risk of injuries, protect your spine and improve stability in daily activities.

CYCLE EXPRESS

Cycle Express is a 30 minute version of the Cycle class.

DAC FIT LIGHT

This 30 minute moderately paced circuit class fuses high repetition strength training with cardio intervals for maximum results. Done at one’s own pace, this class is a great choice for someone short on time who wants to see and feel results fast.

HYDRO-FIT

This dynamic deep-water workout provides the ideal environment to develop and maintain functional health. The class focuses on strength and cardiovascular conditioning using specially designed buoyancy and resistance equipment.

MELT METHOD

A simple self-treatment technique to help people get out and stay out of chronic pain using specially designed balls and rollers. Whether you’re a competitive athlete or a person who sits at a desk all day, adding the MELT Method to your self-care toolkit will help you to move with greater ease and agility.

PILATES MAT I

Pilates strengthens the core by toning and lengthening the muscles in the trunk of the body. Utilizing controlled fluid movement and breathing, participants learn how releasing stress in one part of the body can improve mobility in other parts. Pilates decompresses joints, releases muscle tension and improves strength and posture through the neck, abdominals and lower back.

TAI CHI

This class is suitable for all experience levels. Tai Chi supports health and well being and the integration of strength and flexibility training. The class format is a mixture between loosening exercises and Tai Chi-Qigong sequences.

WATER WORKS

A moderately paced deep-water workout set to music and incorporating specially designed buoyancy and resistance equipment provides strength, balance and cardiovascular exercise. The focus is on whole body conditioning with progressive muscular and cardiovascular workouts to build strength and stamina.

Pilates

PILATES MAT I

These Pilates-based mat classes are designed to strengthen the core of the body. You will feel lengthened, stretched and strong! Class I is a beginning level class.

Class II is an intermediate level class designed for those with prior Pilates experience.

Water Fitness

AQUA THEREX

F.A.S.T. DAC SWIM

F.A.S.T DAC Swim is a coached masters swim workout designed to improve all aspects of conditioning and stroke technique for lap swimmers, triathletes and competitive swimmers. All four lanes will offer different speeds and intervals. Pace work, threshold training and stroke work are regularly utilized. This adult swim team, also known as the Aquaducks, travels to competitions for open water and pool races. Learn more about the Aquaducks here.

HYDRO-FIT

SHALLOW DEEP CARDIO

This high energy class utilizes both the shallow and deep areas of the fitness pool. Fun, simple, add-on choreography and interval training stir the excitement while keeping the heart rate up. This class is reminiscent of good old step and aerobics classes, but with the power of water.

Yoga

ASHTANGA YOGA

Instructors Jean & Deb, Level 2-3
For the more experienced yoga practitioner. Ashtanga integrates an intense Vinyasa progression with the power of the Ujjayi (or ocean) breath and bandhas (energy centers of the body). Be prepared for a vigorous workout.

ASHTANGA VINYASA FLOW

Instructor Matt, All Levels
Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow is a breath based practice in which range of motion activities are completed through vigorous Asana. This class is for all able-bodied people who are willing to explore postures through breath.

BEGINNING YOGA

Instructor Glen, Level 1
Ongoing level. An extension into yoga that is accessible by beginners but includes intermediate stretching and strengthening work.

GENTLE YOGA

Instructor Glen, Level 1
Light Yoga stretching and strength work for all levels. Very basic, easy work and stretching to help the process of aging.

GENTLE YOGA

Alignment Yoga is a form of Hatha that explores the union of mindful movement and breath awareness to increase or maintain functional range of motion, strength, focus and calm.  We emphasize poses that can help build healthy bones and improve balance.  Pose progressions to meet varying levels.

HATHA YOGA

Instructor Glen, Level 2
Stretching, core work, strengthening and relaxation. All performed in a slow sequence for awakening body and spirit. Accessible to beginners with intermediate work included.

VINYASA FLOW

Instructor Jean, All Levels
Vinyasa is a Hatha Yoga practice based on smooth movements that connect one posture to another. This breath-inspired sequence is designed for all levels. It offers many modifications to customize your individual practice.

YOGA

Instructor Sadie, Level 1-2
A combination of yoga styles including Hatha, Kundalini, Yin, Vinyasa, Restorative, Iyengar and Pranayama. Many modifications are offered to make poses as easy or difficult as you need, and the class has a great deal of fun!

YOGA

Instructor Shivraj, All Levels
This class blends a variety of yogic and core-strengthening exercise practices to create a workout for flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, and postural alignment. Incorporates dynamic breath work while emphasizing strengthening of all the muscles, especially the abs and lower back.

YOGA FOR CORE STRENGTH

Instructor Jean, Level 1-2
Core yoga includes a series of traditional yoga asanas fused with core conditioning methods. The class is designed to strengthen your entire core so that you may experience greater ease and stability in your yoga postures, as well as your daily activities.

YOGA FOR STRENGTH & FLEXIBILITY

Instructor Grace, All Levels
Yoga is a breath-based practice designed to increase stress resilience, and promote physical and mental strength and flexibility. In this all levels class, participants are invited to practice at a level that supports their personal goals, and to explore how breath and carefully sequenced mindful movement of varying intensity can be used to reduce stress, and enhance physical and psychological health.
