Code of Conduct
CODE OF CONDUCT: All members need to be knowledgeable of and responsible for complying with safe and healthy conduct to minimize the risk of communicable diseases. We ask members to follow the guidelines below:
- Members who feel ill should stay home, follow appropriate self-care guidelines and/or contact their health care provider.
- Members must follow safety and health recommendations as requested by DAC and/or government mandates.
- Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Follow up immediately with hand washing or sanitizer as noted above.
- Follow all equipment cleaning protocols as defined by the DAC. Wipe down every piece of equipment BEFORE use and again immediately AFTER use.
General Policies
- YOUTH POLICIES: Children, 15 years and younger, are considered Juniors. Juniors are allowed in the Club during family hours and must adhere to all Youth Policies. Youth Policies are listed on the Youth Handout.
- ATTIRE: All members must wear appropriate attire when utilizing the Downtown Athletic Club. Shoes and shirts are required outside the locker room and pool areas. Athletic attire must be worn in all workout areas. Closed-toed shoes must be worn in all areas where equipment is present.
- CYCLE SHOES: Cycle shoes should only be worn while riding cycle bikes. All members should wear closed-toed shoes to and from the cycle room. This is to prevent damage to flooring surfaces throughout the club.
- DECORUM: Members are expected to use appropriate decorum in all areas of the Club, including cleanliness practices, proper towel disposal and appropriate public behavior. This includes, but is not limited to, profanity and otherwise offensive language and behavior, sanitizing and wiping of equipment after use and returning equipment to its proper place after use, is required. Maintain respect to fellow club members and all staff.
- CLUB TELEPHONES: The Club provides telephones for member usage throughout the facility. Important extensions are posted on the member phones. Outside lines are also marked on the phones. Please respect those around you.
- CELLULAR PHONES: Cell phone use of any kind is prohibited in the locker room. Talking on cellular phones is permitted ONLY in designated areas of the Club. All other non-talking cell phone use is allowed in the club. Designated areas are the front and back lobby common areas. Please be courteous and respectful when taking pictures or video on the fitness floor.
- LOST & FOUND: The Club is NOT RESPONSIBLE for lost or stolen articles. Found items are held at the back reception desk for two weeks, held in storage for an additional two months, and are then donated to charity. Valuables are kept in a safe. Members must claim items in person.
- RECIPROCAL CLUB USAGE: The DAC is a member of FitLife, an organization for Northwest travelers and Health and Fitness Association, both of which have reciprocal club networks available to DAC members. The DAC partners with some additional reciprocal clubs across the states, please inquire with membership for listing. Guest fees and permissions are up to the Club’s discretion at reciprocal Clubs.
- POOL ACCESS: All male swimmers must check out a pool key and access the aquatic area through the men’s locker room stairwell. Women have direct access from the lower-level women’s locker room. Use caution when entering or exiting the pool. Surfaces are wet. Please use caution.
- POOL & SPA USAGE: A cleansing shower must be taken before using the spa or pools. Children who are not potty trained must be in swim diapers with a plastic diaper covering or swim suit on top. If under the age of 16, Children must use the Junior Locker Room. Children are permitted in the spa for 5 minutes following swim lessons as long as they are directly supervised by parent, without toys and sitting quietly.
- LOCKER ROOMS: Adult locker rooms are for members ages 16 and older, with the exception of Sundays when children may use adult locker rooms with direct adult supervision – lower-level only in the women’s locker room. Towels are to be discarded in conveniently located towel bins and proper sanitary practices and attire is asked when utilizing furniture. Parents may bring children of the opposite gender, 5 years and younger, into the junior locker room that corresponds with the parent’s gender. Juniors, 15 years of age and younger, must use the Junior Locker Room. Private changing rooms and day-use lockers are also available for all on the lower-level.
- LOCKERS: Complimentary day-use lockers are available to members and guests. NOTE: Day use lockers are emptied at the end of every day. Members may rent a locker for a monthly fee, which includes laundry service.
- STEAM ROOMS & SAUNAS: Shaving, exercising, applying lotions, and clothing are prohibited in steam rooms and saunas. Towels, and other items are not to be placed over sensors in the steam rooms or saunas. All items taken into steam rooms and saunas must be removed upon exit. Benches in steam rooms shall be wiped after use. Water or any other liquid shall never be poured over electric sauna rocks. Tampering with sensors or controls in any way is prohibited.
- KIDSTOP: Childcare service is available for members’ children six weeks to twelve years of age. Parents must remain in the Club while their children are in care at Kidstop. Reservations are required in advance of child drop-off. Kidstop is available to Members only. Please reference the Kidstop Rules and Policies for more information and fees associated with this service.
- MEMBER COMMENTS: Comments may be submitted to memberservices@downtownac.com.
- DISPLAY OF SIGNAGE AND LITERATURE: Club signage is reserved for Downtown Athletic Club use only. Advertising space is available for purchase/rent by contacting marketing@downtownac.com.
- VEHICLES: No skateboards, bicycles or any type of motorized or mechanical vehicle are allowed in the Club.
- ANIMALS: Pets are not allowed on the premises. Exceptions are made for Service animals.
- SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted within the Downtown Athletic Club. This includes the DAC Conference Center, rooftop patio, and Newberry Childcare. Smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of any door or window.
Parking
Overpark is owned by the City of Eugene. The DAC has no control over the management or functionality of the parking garage. We contract with the city to allow our members usage of the garage.
- ACCESS: Convenient parking is made available to DAC members through the City of Eugene overpark located on the corner of 10th and Oak streets. Adult members on DAC membership accounts are permitted parking privileges via a ticket validation from the club. Validation must be used only when a member is at the Club.
- THREE HOUR LIMIT: Adult members are allowed up to three hours of complimentary parking per day in the connected overpark. If a member exceeds the three-hour limit, they will be charged the standard parking fee for any overage by the city of Eugene when exiting the garage.
Aquatics Center
- All persons must conduct themselves with safe and responsible behavior in the aquatics area.
- All persons are required to take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
- All persons must use aquatics equipment properly and return when finished. Equipment and toys may not be left in the pool.
- All persons under 14 years of age are required to have direct adult supervision in the aquatic area.
- Parents must stay in the aquatic area during swim lessons.
- All children who are not strong swimmers must be within arm’s reach of an adult at all times and/or in a lifejacket.
- All persons suffering from a communicable disease transmissible via water or under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drug are prohibited from using the aquatics areas (lap pool, fitness pool and spa).
- All persons with an immunodeficiency should use caution when using the aquatics areas (lap pool, fitness pool and spa).
- All persons are prohibited from using the aquatics area (lap pool, fitness pool and spa) for two weeks after having diarrhea or vomiting.
- No person should use the aquatics area (lap pool, fitness pool and spa) alone.
- Food or drink is prohibited in the aquatic area.
- Talkin on cellular phones is permitted ONLY in designated areas of the Club. All other non-talking cell phone use is allowed in the Club. Designated areas are the front and back lobby common areas. Please be respectful when using a cellular phone.
- No running.
- Unless a day pass is purchased, non-member swim lesson families are not permitted to use the aquatic area while waiting for their child’s swim lesson. This includes, but is not limited to, swimming, soaking feet in the spa or pools, and bringing other to use the Club.
- DIVING IS PROHIBITED
- NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY
Fitness Pool
- All persons must use aquatics equipment properly and return when finished. Equipment and toys may not be left in the pool.
- All children who are not strong swimmers must be within arm’s reach of an adult at all times and/or in a lifejacket.
- Fitness pool is reserved for participates of group fitness classes during scheduled times.
- Swim lessons may take place in fitness pool.
Lap Pool
- All persons must use aquatic equipment properly and return when finished.
- All persons under 14 years of age are required to have direct adult supervision in the aquatic area.
- All persons must be toilet trained or wear swim diapers in the pool.
- All persons should swim in the lane designation most appropriate to their speed.
- All persons should swim in a circular direction when there are three or more swimmers in a lane.
- All persons should pass slower swimmers on the left.
Spa
- All persons must be toilet trained to use the spa. Swim Diapers are NOT permitted in the spa.
- All persons with children under 5 years of age should consult their physician before the child uses the spa and limit their spa usage to 5 minutes directly supervised by a parent, without toys and sitting quietly.
- All persons should spend no more than 15 minutes in the spa at any one session.
- All persons should ask others using the spa before turning the jets off or on.
- All pregnant women should consult their physician before using the spa.
- All persons using prescription medication should consult their physician before using the spa.
- All persons should avoid strenuous exercise during spa use.
- All elderly persons and those suffering from heart diseases, diabetes or high blood pressure should consult their physician before using the spa.
Youth Policy
The Downtown Athletic Club encourages members to use the Club as a family. The DAC offers a variety of youth programs and provides supervision for children during scheduled program time. It is the parent’s responsibility to provide supervision to and from each activity and are directly responsible for their children’s behavior in all areas of the Club.
Members 15 years of age and younger are considered “Juniors” and must be accompanied in the Club at all times by an adult and may only use the Club during designated Family Hours.
Members 13-15 years of age are required to schedule a Junior Orientation with a personal trainer to learn the rules and use of equipment. Once completed, 13 year-olds are able to work out on the fitness floor and take Group X classes with parental supervision.
Members 14-15 years of age can take Group X classes and workout on the floor without parental supervision, post Junior Orientation.
Members 16 and older are recommended to take a Fitness Consultation with a personal trainer before working out on the floor without parental supervision. A child ad-on does not receive an Annual Fitness Check (AFC), only primary account holders receive AFC’s.
Locker Rooms
Adult locker rooms are for members ages 16 and older, with the exception of Sundays when children may use adult locker rooms with direct adult supervision – lower-level only in the women’s locker room. Junior and Family Locker Rooms are located on the lower-level for members 15 years of age and younger. Towels are to be discarded in conveniently located towel bins and proper sanitary practices and attire is asked when utilizing the furniture.
Youth Areas
Juniors are permitted to use racquetball, squash, and basketball courts, ping pong table, and pools with direct adult supervision during family hours only.
Restricted Areas
Must be 13 years or older, and have taken a Junior Orientation, to use the following areas: 2nd floor, weight room, cardio room, indoor track, and any other spaces that hold Group X classes or equipment.
Group Exercise Classes
Members 13 years or older, that have taken a Junior Orientation, are allowed to participate in Group Exercise classes.
Aquatics Center Youth Guidelines
Please adhere to Family Swim Hours that are listed on the DAC Aquatics Schedule.
- Juniors (under 14) may only be in the aquatics area during designated Open Swim, Open Lap Swim, Family Swim, and swim lessons.
- Children who are not potty-trained may use the pool as long as they wear a swim diaper.
- Juniors who are not strong swimmers must be accompanied by an adult while in the aquatics area at all times.
- Juniors may use the Lap Pool for practicing swim strokes and/or swimming laps during family/open lap swim hours only.
- Juniors must also be supervised by a parent while in the Lap and/or Fitness Pool.
- Juniors who are unable to swim or are not strong swimmers must be in a lifejacket or within arm’s reach of an adult at all times.
- A rinse-off shower is required prior to entering either pool.
Spa Usage
- Children must be toilet trained to use the spa.
- Juniors may use the spa with direct adult supervision during designated family swim hours.
- Children must sit quietly. Toys and inflatables are not permitted in the spa.
- The DAC recommends that children not be in the spa for more than 5 minutes.
- Etiquette rules are posted by the Spa for all members.
Youth Waiver
All children under the age of 18 years old must have a waiver signed by their parents/legal guardian prior to using the club. There are 3 ways to obtain a waiver:
- Download/print from the website.
- Call 541-484-4011 or email memberservices@downtownac.com for the Sign Now version.
- Completed in person by the parent/legal guardian, ID required

Guest Policy
- Members shall be responsible for the conduct of their guests and the payment of any charges incurred by those guests.
- Check In: Each guest must be accompanied by a member during the duration of their visit. Guests must check in at the welcome desk upon entrance to the Club.
- FEE PAYMENT: The fee for guests must be paid upon check in. Children ages 5 to 13 qualify for a discounted junior guest fee, juniors must have a parent or legal guardian fill out a youth waiver for entry.
- TEMPORARY PASSES: Members also have the ability to purchase temporary passes for out-of-town guests on a weekly basis, at a rate reduced from the daily guest fee. These guests have the ability to access the club without being accompanied by a member.
- USAGE LIMITS: Local guests of members can use the Club for no more than two visits per month, whether as a paid or complimentary guest. The Club reserves the right to limit the number of guests (and frequency of visits) a member may bring to the Club at any given time.
- AGE RESTRICTIONS: Members must be sixteen years or older to allow a guest on their account.
- Each youth guest must be accompanied by a member during their visit.
- A parental waiver is required for guests under 18; their waiver can be filled out in person at check-in or ahead of time, remotely, by calling the Club. The waiver must be signed by the parent or legal guardian of all guests under 18.
- A waiver is required for all guests.
- Checking in at the welcome desk is required for each guest upon every visit.
Kidstop
- KidStop is available for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.
- KidStop child care services are available by reservation only.
- Reservations can be made by stopping by or calling the Back Welcome Desk at (541)-484-4011 ext. 216. When calling after hours, please leave a detailed voicemail and our team will reach out the following morning.
- Reservations must be made a minimum of 2 hours in advance and may be made up to 7 days in advance.
- Cancellations must be made a minimum of 1 hour in advance to receive a refund.
- We offer 1-hour and 2-hour time slots.
- Payment is taken at the time of reservation and can be paid with a credit card saved on file. Late fees are charged after pick-up time. A late fee will be assessed at the rate of $1 per 15 minutes.
- Name, age, and additional parent/guardian information must be provided for each child during each reservation.
Parents must remain in Club while their children are in KidStop.
Diapers are checked and/or changed every 2 hours or when needed. We assist children to the restroom every 15 min if they are currently potty-training. If they are potty-trained, they are brought to the restroom every half hour.
Weight Room
- Use spotters.
- Do not drop dumbbells or bang weights.
- Do not remove equipment from the weight room.
- Ask for assistance if you must move equipment.
- Re-rack plates and dumbbells in correct places when finished.
- Safety collars are required on all lifts.
- Wipe down benches, workout mats and equipment with sanitizer after use.
- Allow others to work in between sets.
- Athletic attire, including closed toe shoes, must be worn at all times.
- No yelling or vulgar language.
- Cell phones are not to be used in the workout areas.
- Must be 14 years old – no exceptions!
- Leaving bags or personal items on the floor is prohibited.
