Fun Facts about the DAC
The DAC opened in 1985, and the same family still owns it today.
The club resides in 3 historical downtown Eugene buildings.
Ax Billy was the department store built in 1909-1910, and was said to be the 2nd largest department store in Oregon at the time.
The building adjacent to the DAC was built in 1905 as a playhouse under the name of “Rex Theater”. It was purchased by the DAC in 1987.
The third, and final, building was purchased in 1994. The historic J.J. Newberry Building, across the street, was once a 5-and-dime store.
The Bennetts restored the J.J. Newberry neon sign in October 2010 after being off for 25 years.
