Downtown Pilates

Downtown Pilates was founded in 2000 by teacher extraordinaire Marilyn Hinson, who manages the studio. Our entire staff is fully certified and highly qualified. The entrance to the Studio is located at 980 Willamette Street, directly across from the main entrance of the Club. Studio spaces are well-appointed, comfortable, and equipped with state-of-the-art Pilates and GYROTONIC® equipment. Downtown Athletic Club Members and Guests alike are welcome.

Pilates and GYROTONIC® Sessions

GYROTONIC®

The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® is a unique system of equipment and exercise that incorporates movement principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming and tai chi. The work is spiraling in nature and utilizes beautifully designed equipment. Neuromuscular rejuvenation leaves one worked out, refreshed and exhilarated. The workout can be quite vigorous or as gentle as needed.

Private Training

Private training is the best way to begin exploring Pilates and GYROTONIC® method. These lessons are essential for anyone with injuries, health issues or specific training goals. Private sessions run approximately 55 minutes and are done on a variety of equipment.

Semi Private Training

Work out with a friend, a partner or we can help you find a partner with similar strengths and limitations. In this setting, there are 2-3 students with one trainer who instructs the sessions. These sessions utilize a variety of equipment developing the technique, skill and confidence of the students.

Group Reformer Class

Classes with 4-5 people are designed to give the students a “movement” experience, rather than focus on specific physical issues. Mastering the concepts and movements of the Pilates method is a rewarding challenge.

Group Mat Class

Mat class is for 6-8 people. This class utilizes a variety of equipment like the magic circle, small balls weights, and bands. The fundamentals of Pilates reside in the mat work. GYROKINESIS® class is a small group performed on stools and the floor. The undulating, circular movements free the body and provide complete balance. The work is unique, beautiful, and satisfying.
