Handball has a rich and dedicated community here at the DAC, and one of our newest members embodies that passion. After over 25 years in the sport, our member’s journey has led from national tournaments to state championships, from small towns to big cities, all the way from Toledo, Ohio, to Eugene, Oregon, in search of the ideal handball town.
Tyler Stevens began playing handball at an early age, watching and learning from his dad. He went from friendly games with buddies to the pro tour; even reaching a world ranking of 14. He’s played in Toledo’s National Tournament multiple times, where he once faced off against a gentleman from Eugene in a nail-biter match that sparked a long-distance friendship. After several visits and falling in love with the Northwest, he made a bold move to Eugene in 2021, looking for a fresh start and the perfect handball town.
Since joining DAC in fall 2023, he’s brought his competitive energy and years of experience to our courts, blending right in with Eugene’s passionate handball community. With three state titles, a recent Men’s Masters Singles Championship at the 2024 Three-Wall Nationals, and a love for the game, he’s helping make our handball scene more vibrant than ever. We’re thrilled to have him on board, along with many other court sport players, inspiring and challenging one another every day.
